Cookie Policy

Effective date: 2026-06-10 (draft — not yet in force; pending attorney review)

1. The short version

OwnTongue, operated by OwnTongue LLC [REVIEW: exact registered name + state TBD], sets exactly one cookie: a session cookie that keeps presenters signed in. We use no analytics, tracking, or advertising cookies today.

2. The one cookie we set

When a presenter signs in, we set a session cookie on their browser. It is strictly necessary: it is how the service knows you are signed in from one page to the next. It contains a random session identifier, not your personal details, and it is removed or expires when your session ends. Audience viewers who only read captions do not need to sign in, so they get no sign-in cookie.

3. What we do not use

4. If this changes

If we ever add a cookie beyond the strictly necessary session cookie — for example, a privacy-respecting analytics tool — we will update this page first and describe what the cookie does before it is used.

5. Managing cookies

You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings (usually under Privacy or Site Data). If you clear the session cookie or block cookies for owntongue.com, you will be signed out and will need to sign in again to use presenter features. Viewing captions as an audience member does not require cookies to be enabled for sign-in.
